Abstract
Objective To investigate into the effects of the statins on blood pressure variability in patients with hypertension. Methods 80 cases of pure hypertension were divided into two groups.Group A(statin group): 43 cases were given atorvastatin on the basis of antihypertensive therapy;Group B(control group): 37 cases were simply given antihypertensive drugs. All the patients were conducted the 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring after their blood pressure was up to the standards. The effects of the statins have on the BPV were investigated by colleting the long-term variability indexes which were analyzed comparatively then in patients with hypertension. Results The blood pressure variability of patients with hypertension in group A is smaller than that in group B,and the differences were significantly(P0.05).The levels of plasma LDL-C in group A were lower than those in group B(P0.05).Conclusion In patients with pure hypertension, the statins not only reduce the levels of serum lipid but also lower the blood pressure variability significantly, and thereby ease the target organ damage and reduce the cardiovascular events.
