Abstract

Objective To study atorvastatin's intervention to blood pressure variability(BPV) and ankle-brachial index(ABI) in hypertension patients. Methods 86patients with primary hypertension were randomly divided into two groups: control group(n = 40) and treatment group(n = 46),both of which received antihypertensive therapy,The treatment group received atorvastatin 20 mg/d on this basis.BPV and ABI were measured after 6 months of treatment for comparison. Results More significant reduction of BPV and rise of ABI in the treatment group was observed(P0.05).Conclusion Atorvastatin can further improve BPV significantly In patients with hypertension, and thereby decrease the target organ damage and the cardiovascular events.
