Research on correlation between general well-being and coping style of surgical nurses

[Objective]To understand the correlation between the status of general well-being and its coping style.[Methods]General Well Being Schedule(GWB) and Coping Style Questionnaire and questionnaire of demographic data were used to investigate 420 surgical nurses.[Results]The general well-being of surgical nurses was lower than that of female norm(P 0.001).The year of nursing and professional title and status of marriage and night shift were the main influencing factors of general well-being of surgical nurses(P 0.001).General well being had positive correlation with mature coping style(r = 0.287,P 0.001) and negative correlation with immature coping style(r =-0.312,P 0.001).[Conclusion]The surgical nurses' level of general well-being has much room for improvement.It is closely related to their coping style and mature coping style can help improve their well-being.
