Abstract
Currently such problems exist in higher vocational English teaching: mainly transferring knowledge, emphasizing ability training but teaching effect is not ideal, and the teaching content is separated from the life and career needs. Therefore ability-oriented project method is put forward. It takes the teaching mode with teachers as the leading role and students the main body; it can completely change the separation of current higher vocational English teaching and students' future career. At the same time the practicability of teaching content and interest also can enhance student's enthusiasm and motivation in learning English, and improve the efficiency of higher vocational English classroom teaching.
