Abstract

Using the cotyledon and hypocotyls of two cultivars (hongqie, zichangqie) of Solanum melongena L. as explants, the influence of different growth regulating substances on explant differentiation was studied. The different abilities of differentiation and regeneration among donor tissue of different genotypes and explants were studied as well as. High efficient regeneration systems of hypocotyls of two cultivars were established. The results showed that MS+2,4-D 1.0 mg/L+6-BA 0.5 mg/L was the best medium for callus induction, and MS+4-PU 0.1 mg/L was the best medium for adventitious bud induction. On the other hand, the medium of 1/2MS was better than MS for rooting.
