DETERMINATION OF THE CHLAMYDIA TRACHOMATIS AND UREAPLASMA UREALYTICUM IN THE INFERTILE MALE

Abstract

Objective To investigate the significance of positive Chlamydia trachomatis(CT) and Ureaplasma urealyticum(UU) in the urethra of infertile male without any symptoms. Methods CT was determined by the quick coloration and UU by in vitro culture. Results In all the 68 infertile male studied, 14 cases(20.6%) were CT-positive, and 29(42.6%) UU-positive; while in the 40 normal sperm donors, 7(17.5%) were CT-positive and 14(35.5%) UU-positive. The difference between the two groups was not significant(χ 2=0.867, 0.987; P0.05). Conclusion The CT and UU determination might be of no value in the treatment of infertile male without any symptoms.
