The analysis of ureaplasma urealyticum and chlamydia trachomatis infections in genitourinary tract of infertile couples

Objective To investigate the prevalance of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) infections in genitourinary tract of infertile couples, the association between infertility and UU or CT infections. Methods 136 sterile couples as the study group and 50 healthy couples as cont rol. The detection of UU and CT we re performed by immunological methods. Results The positive rates of UU, CT and UU + CT were 30.9% ,39.0% and 11.0% in the group of infertile women. And the positive rates were 8.0% , 10.0% and 4.0% in the group of healthy women. There were significant difference between the two groups(P 0.05) . The positive rates of UU,CT and UU+CT were 3 3.1%, 36.8% and 12.5% in the group of infertile men. And the positive rates were 6.0% 10.0% and4.0% in the group of he athy men.The re were significant difference between the two groups ( P 0.05 ). Conclusion The infection of UU and CT was closely correlated with infertility.
