Hydroxyapatite Orbital Implantation and Postoperative Complications

Objective To discuss the cause,managment and prevention of the postoperative complications of hydroxyapatite orbital implantation by clinical case analysis. Methods Eighty-nine cases of hydroxyapatite orbital implantation from May 1996 to March 2009 were retrospectively analyzed. Results In the 89 cases,complications occurred in 12 cases(13.48%) including 8 cases of hydroxyapatite implants exposure(8.99%) and the others of abnormal orbital location,orbital chronic infection,granuloma,sunken eyes,respectively,and they were treated with good improvement. Conclusion The postoperative complications should be actively managed ,with good curative effect,and the complications can be prevent.
