Abstract
Objective To investigate the growth inhibitory effect and inducing apoptosis effect of oridonin on MCF-7 cells. Methods Different concentrations of oridonin were added in culture medium. The growth inhibitory rate of the MCF-7 cells was measured by MTT assay, cell apoptotic rate was detected by flow cytometry(FCM),morphology of apoptosis was observed by Hoechst 33258 fluorescence staining. Results Oridonin could inhibit the growth of MCF-7 cells and induce cell apoptosis significantly. The suppression was both in a time-and dose-dependent manner.Marked changes of apoptosis including condensation of chromatin and nuclear fragmentation were observed very clearly by Hoechst 33258 fluorescence staining. Conclusion Oridonin had growth inhibitory effect on MCF-7 cells in vitro, which associated with the cell apoptosis.
