Abstract
Objective To study the relationship between angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) gene insertion(I)/deletion(D) polymorphism and ischemic stroke in mid-adults and young adults.Methods With polymerase chain reaction(PCR) technique ACE genotypes were examined in 96 patients with acute ischemic stroke(55 youth-middle aged patients and 41 agedness patients) and 58 youth-middle aged healthy controls.Results The frequency of DD genotype was low in the three groups.But there was no significant difference in the three groups.And there was no significant difference in the frequency of D/I allele in the three groups.Conclusion The results suggest that ACE gene I/D polymorphism may not be a risk factor for ischemic stroke in mid-adults and young adults.
