Abstract
Objective To study the relationship between angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) gene insertion(I)/deletion(D) polymorphisn, serum ACE acticity and ischemic stroke in mid-adults and young adults. Methods With polymerase chain reaction(PCR) techniques,we examinied ACE genotypes in 96 patients with acute ischemic stroke(55 youth- middle aged patients and 41 agedness patients) and 58 youth- middle aged healthy controls. And serum ACE activity were determined. Results The frequency of DD genotype was lowest in the three groups. But there was no significant difference in the three groups. And there was no significant difference in the frequency of D/I allele in the three groups. There was significant difference in serum ACE activity among DD genotype,DI genotype,Ⅱ genotype. And the serum ACE activity in DD genotype was the highest. Conclusion The results serum ACE gene I/D polymorphism may not be a risk factor for ischemicstroke in mid- adults and young adults. The ACE gene I/D polymorphism regulates the activity of serum ACE.And the serum ACE activity of DD genotype is the highest.
