Abstract
Objective To determine the angiotensin-1 converting enzyme (ACE-1) gene polymorphisms in patients with ischemic stroke in Hainan Li ethnic population and explore their association with ischemic stroke. Methods Case-control study and polymerase chain reaction method were used to test the polymorphisms of ACE-1 in 170 subjects including 87 cases with ischemic stroke and 83 controls, then their genotypes and dominant alleles frequency were calculated. Results The frequencies of DD、ID and II genotypes of ACE-1 gene were 6.9%, 57.5%, 35.6% respectively in patients with ischemic stroke, and were 4.8%, 49.4%, 45.8% respectively in the control group. The frequency of DD genotype was 4.8% in the control group and 6.9% in ischemic stroke group (P0.05). The frequency of D allele was 29.5% in the control group and 35.6% in the ischemic stroke (P0.05). Conclusion ACE-1 gene is not related to ischemic stroke, ACE-1 gene might not be a relevant gene for patients with ischemic stroke in Li ethnic group in Hainan Province.
