Abstract
Objective To investigate insulin resistance and islet β-cell function of the women with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM) . Methods In 98 GDM women and 102 normal pregnant women, fasting blood glucose and insulin levels were measured, and insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR) and β-cell function index(HOMA-IS) calculated by HOMA model. Results HOMA-IR in the GDM women was higher than in the normal pregnant women (t=4.07,P0.01). HOMA-IS was lower than in the normal pregnant women (t=2.35 ,P0.05). Conclusion The increase of insulin resistance and decrease of islet β-cell function may result in gestational diabetes mellitus.
