Abstract
Objective: To investigate influence of psychological intervention on the emotion and life quality of patients with chronic alcoholism.Methods: Eighty patients with alcoholism were randomly divided into intervention group(40 cases) and control group(40 cases),both groups were given routine drugs and symptomatic treatment,the intervention group was also given an extra psychological intervention including health education,lifestyle guidance,behavior management,psychological counseling and family support.Self-rating depressive scale(SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) were used to evaluate the emotional status of these patients.Four weeks later,their life quality scores with quality of life scale,and the repeat were calculated.Results: Eighty valid questionnaires were collected.(1) For the convention group,both SDS and SAS scales after 4 weeks of treatment was significantly different from that before intervention(P0.05),while for the control group there was no similar significance was observed(P0.05).Besides,comparison of SDS and SAS scales of the two groups after 4 weeks of treatment showed significant differences(P0.05).(2) Items of quality of life scale including emotion scores,health indicators,life satisfaction and objective quality of life comparison between the two groups showed significant differences(P all 0.05).(3) Four weeks after the treatment,17.5%(7/40) patients in the convention group drunk alcohol again,while 92.5%(37/40) of the control group did the same,showing significant difference between them(P0.01).Conclusions: Patients with alcoholism suffer from different degrees of psychological problems.Psychological intervention combing with symptomatic treatment and routine drugs can improve patients' negative mood and help them to get rid of alcoholism.
