Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical values of multi-slice spiral CT angiography in diagnosing aortic aneurysms. Materials and Methods 16-slice CT angiography were performed in 32 patients with aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection. The volume data of all patients were reconstructed with the 3D techniques including multiple plane reformation(MPR), maximum intensity projection(MIP), shaded surface display(SSD) and volume rendering(VR).Results 13 cases with aortic aneurysms, 19 cases with aortic dissection, the anatomical characters and the relationship between aneurysms and neighboring organs could be visualized clearly and directly by the reconstructed images combined with the original images. Conclusion 16-slice spiral CT has unique superiority not only for the diagnosis of aneurysms but also for the selection of treatment method, the observation of the curative effect and for the follow-up.
