Status and Influencing Factors of Internet Addiction Among Junior High School Students in Daqing City

Objective To explore the status and influencing factors of Internet addiction among junior high school students,and to provide basis for prevention and intervention on internet addiction.Methods By multistage random sampling method,based on a sample of 646 were surveyed with Internet Addiction Impairment Index and other mental scales,646 students in 4 junior middle schools were investigated.Results Incidence of internet addiction was 7.9%,male and individuals of not interest to learning were the risk factors to internet addiction.Internet addiction and life events,social anxiety,depression,positive coping were positively correlation,stepwise regression analysis showed that life events,social anxiety and negative coping were effective predictors of Internet addiction.Conclusion Internet addiction prevention and interventions should be taken based on the influencing factors.
