Effect Evaluation of Community Intervention among 289 Rural Patients with Hypertension

Abstract

[Objective]To observe the effect of comprehensive intervention among rural patients with hypertension in Huairou district of Beijing,so as to explore the hypertension control pattern in rural area.[Methods]289 patients with hypertension were selected in Huairou district of Beijing from June 2007 to June 2009,the comprehensive intervention was conducted for one year by health doctors and general practitioners of community health service centers,and the effect of intervention was evaluated.[Results]289 patients with hypertension received the community intervention,which included 107 male patients and 182 female patients,and the average age was 58.11 ± 12.01 years old.There were significant differences in the diagnostic criteria of hypertension,risk factors and awareness rate of hypertension cannot be cured completely between before and after intervention.There were significant differences in adoption rates of health behaviors which included smoking cessation,salt restriction,proper exercise and weight control between before and after intervention.The difference in treatment rate between before and after intervention was not significant.[Conclusion] The comprehensive intervention which included health education and hierarchical management has important significance to increase the awareness rate of knowledge about hypertension and adoption rates of health behaviors among rural patients with hypertension.Meanwhile,the treatment rate of patients should be enhanced to improve the control.
