Abstract

Objective To study the effects of the treatment of liver cirrhosis with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis by ceftriaxone combined with levofloxacin. Methods Seventy-two liver cirrhosis patients with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis were randomly divided into treatment group (37 patients) and control group (35 patients). The treatment group received ceftriaxone 2 g plus levofloxacin 0.3 g, the control group received cefoperazone/sulbactam 2 g intravenously two times, one per day. Patients were observed from 14 to 21 days after the treatment was administered. Results The total effective effect of the treatment group and the control group were 89. 19% and 68. 57% respectively. The efficiency of the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group ( P 0. 05 ). Conclusion The ceftriaxone sodium combined with levofloxacin had a significant effect for the treatment of liver cirrhosis with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis.
