Abstract
Objective: To investigate the mRNA changes of metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 (mGluRI ) and metabo tropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) in rats with focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion. Methods: The rat model with focal cerebral isehemia and reperfusinn was induced by an intraluminal filament occlusion and withdrawal of the suture. The gene expressions of mGluRl and mGluR5 were mearsured by RT-PCR. Results: The expression of mGluRl and mGluR5 increased in ischemia hemispheres of experiment group compared with hemispheres of sham surgery group ( P 0.05) . There were no difference between non-ischemic hemispheres of experiment group and hemispheres of sham sur gery group. (P0. 05) Conclusion: Activation of mGluRl and mGluR5 has been implicated in the pathophysiology of cerebral ischemia and reperfusion.
