Analysis of Outpatient Utilization of Chinese Patent Medicines in Shanghai Eighth People's Hospital During 2010-2012

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the utilization of Chinese patent medicine in our hospital for references of rational use of drug.METHODS: The consumption quantity,consumption sum,DDDs,and the defined daily cost( DDC) of Chinese patent medicine in the outpatient department of our hospital during 2010-2012 were reviewed and statistically analyzed.RESULTS: The consumption sum of Chinese patent medicine in our hospital showed upward trend during 2010-2012,with cordyceps agent and blood stasis-removing agents topping the list in the terms of both consumption sum and DDDs.The DDC of Danshen tablets was the lowest.The consumption sum of Chinese patent medicine in the internal medicine department took the lead.The mean drug cost per prescription in departments remained to be improved.CONCLUSION: The utilization of Chinese patent medicine in our hospital was basically rational,yet supervision on some links remains to be intensified.
