Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical relationship between S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (SKP2) expression and gastric carcinoma. Method Samples of 69 cases with gastric carcinoma were examined by immunohistochemical staining SP method for expressions of SKP2 and p27 KIP1 . Result Expression rate of SKP2 protein was 33.33%(23/69) in gastric carcinoma, while that was10.71%(3/28) in normal gastric tissue(P0.05).The expression rate of SKP2 was not correlated with patient age, patient sex, tumor size, tumor position (P0.05),but correlated with the differentiation (P0.05). There was a significant inverse correlation between the expression of SKP2 and that of p27 KIP1 (P0.01). Conclusions The abnormal expression of SKP2 may promote cell cycle progression and gastric carcinogenesis. Ubiquitin-proteasome pathway may play an important role in gastric carcinogenesis.
