Abstract
A novel kaolinite composite water superabsorbent based on sodium acrylate, acrylamide and N.N-methylene-bis-acrylamide was prepared by water solution copolymerization and potassium persulfate /sodium acid sulfite as redox initiator.Effects of the amount of kaolinite as well as crosslinker on water absorption, salt absorption and water retention were studied.TGA shows the enhancement of water retention by adding kaolinite.FIIR demonstrates the surface chemical reaction between kaolinite and water superabsorbent.XRD data indicates that the monomer can not intercalate into the kaolinite during polymerization.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
