Efficacy and management of ropivacaine used for oral surgery in the elderly under local anesthesia

Objective To investigate the benefits of ropivacaine used for oral surgery in the elderly under local anesthesia and the management during anesthesia.Methods A total of 40 elderly patients(ASAⅠ～Ⅲ) undergoing elective oral surgery were randomly divided into 2 groups: ropivacaine group(group Ⅰ) and lidocaine group(group Ⅱ)(20 cases in each group).The patients of group Ⅰand Ⅱreceived 0.5 ropivacaine and 1 lidocaine(10～15ml),respectively.The mandibular nerve block,posterior superior alveolar nerve block and local infiltration anesthesia were performed.During operation,BP,HR,RR,SpO_2 and ECG were continuously recorded by automatic monitor.Results In group Ⅰ,the effect of anesthesia was satisfactory,the superior rate was 95%,circulatory and respiratory function were stable and no adverse reaction was found.Conclusion The effect of 0.5 ropivacaine is better than that of 1 lidocaine,the careful monitoring and nursing are essential for the elderly getting through the operation safely.
