Breeding and Application of New Indica Hybrid Rice Boyou 253 with High Yield and Fine Quality

Boyou 253, derived from Bo A and a strong restorer line Ce 253 (IR36/Tiandong Wild Rice∥IR2061 /// IR24/Gu 154), is a newly developed indica hybrid rice combination with high and stable yield, fine grain quality, strong cold tolerance, wide adaptability and high seed production yield. It matures in about 120 days and yields 7.50～ 9.00 t/hm 2 grown as late cropping rice in Guangxi. It was certified in Guangxi in December, 2000. The breeding procedure of Boyou 253 and its restorer line Ce 253, the characteristics and technical points in the cultural management and hybrid seed production of Boyou 253 were introduced in this paper.
