The Clinical Significance of Serum β_2-MG and LDH in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Multiple Myeloma

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of serum beta 2 microglobulin(β2-MG),lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple myeloma(MM). Methods A total of 68 patients with MM were from Ezhou Central Hospital during Aug. 2007 and Feb. 2013 were included:22cases of phaseⅠ,25 cases of phaseⅡ,21 cases of phaseⅢ,and another 24 cases of normal outpatient department for health checkup during the same period were selected as a control group. The expression of serumβ2-MG,LDH of MM patients and the control group were detected by rate method and radioimmunoassay. The levels of serum LDH,β2-MG and the correlation to Durie-Salmon(DS) staging were compared. Results The expression levels of β2-MG,LDH in all MM patients were significantly higher than the control group(P 0. 05),along with disease staging increased,expression level of β2-MG and LDH increased significantly(P 0. 05).The expression level of β2-MG and LDH had a positive correlation with the DS staging(rs= 0. 587,0. 254,P 0. 05),expression level of serum β2-MG had a positive correlation with the expression level of LDH(rs= 0. 273,P 0. 05). Conclusion The expression levels of serum β2-MG,LDH in patients with MM increase obviously,which has a high value in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of MM.
