The effects of combination of Chinese and western medicine treatment for spontaneous bacterial peritonitis

Objective To investigate the effects of combination of Chinese and western medicine treatment for spontaneous bacterial peritonitis.Methods 82 patients with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis accorded the different treatment methods were equally divided into treatment group and control group,all patients were underwent conventional western medicine,on this basis,the treatment group were treated with traditional Chinese medicine decoction self.Results The total effective rate of the treatment group was 87.8%,so that was 68.3% in the control group that compared differences between the groups had significant differences(P0.05).Before treatment,the serum interleukin-6(IL-6) and nitric oxide(NO) levels between the two groups compared had no significant difference(P0.05),and were significantly decreased after treatment(P0.05),while between groups compared had significant differences(P0.05).Conclusion Combination of Chinese and western medicine treatment for spontaneous bacterial peritonitis can improve the therapeutic efficacy,and it may related to reduce serum NO and IL-6 production,thereby reduce liver damage,thus delay the progress of liver cirrhosis.
