Two New Species of Parasitic Wasps (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) on Scale Insects from Liaoning, China

Abstract

Two new species: Mayridia parva Wu et Xu, sp. n. and Doliphoceras brachyclavae Wu et Xu, sp. n. are described in this paper. Both of them were collected from Fuxin, Liaoning Province. Genera Mayridia and Doliphoceras are also new records from China. All the specimens are deposited in the Institute of Applied Entomology, Agriculture and Biotechnology College, Zhejiang University. 1. Mayridia parva Wu et Xu, sp. n. (Figs.1~4) Diagnosis: this species is similar to Mayridia pulchra Mercet, but can be distinguished from the latter by: 1) antennal scape 2.7 times as long as pedicel, the latter with scape 3.6 times as long as pedicel. 2) body length 1.03 mm, the latter with body length 1.82 mm. 3) forewing with two infuscated bands linked in the middle, the latter with the two infuscated bands separated completely. Holotype ♀, Fuxin (42°N, 121°36′E), Liaoning Province, Ⅶ-1995, Swept by Lou Juxian, C9506-77. 2. Doliphocera brachyclavae Wu et Xu, sp. n. (Figs.5~7) Diagnosis: this species is similar to Doliphoceras refoscutata Ishii, but can be distinguished from the latter by: 1) ocelli in an acute triangle, the latter with ocelli in a obtuse angled triangle. 2) the first funicular joint 2.3 times as long as wide, the latter with the first funicular joint thrice as long as wide. 3) the club shorter than the last three funicular joints combined, the latter with club as long as last three joints combined. Holotype ♀, Fuxin (42°N, 121°36′E), Liaoning Province, Ⅶ-1995, Swept by Lou Juxian, C9506-79.
