Abstract
Objective To compare the effects and complications of using closed draninage of thoracic cavity by central venous catheter and by gross tube in the treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax patients. Methods A total of 64 spontaneous pneumothorax patients who were admitted in our department between january of 2005 and December of 2010 were randomly divided into a treatment group and a comparison group. The treatment group(n=32) were given closed drainage of thoracic cavity by central venous catheter of TFR thoracic cavity drainage bottie(3-1300 plus DY-1A) through negative pressure suction. The comparison group(n=32) were given closed drainage of thoracic cavity by gross tube. The comparisons were made on the effects of the treatments and their complications. Results The two groups in general showed no stistical differences on the effects of the treatment. However, the comparison group showed more complications than that of the treatment group. Conclusions Use of closed drainage of thoracic cavity by central venous catheter has less pain, less complications, being easy to implement and more acceptable in treating spontaneous pneumothorax patients.
