Abstract

The phenotype correlation and regression analysis between body weight and body size of 9-week Korea quail were analyzed by SPSS 13.0 software, and the optimum regression equation was established subsequently in this paper. The results showed that the relation degrees of weight and five body size namely tibia length(X1),chest breadth(X2),chest depth(X3),keel length(X4) and body length(X5) is different between different body size with body weight, and the correlation degree is different for two various sexes. The keel length and body length were the two major body size factors affecting the body weight of male quail, while the tibia length and chest depth were the major body size factors for female quail. Therefore, besides body weight selection,we should pay more attention to the keel length and body length for the selection of male quail and to tibia length and chest depth for female quail simultaneously. The optimal regression equations were Y=-90.395+19.690X2+20.667X4+8.899X5 for male quail and Y=-16.678+48.269X1 for female quail, respectively.
