Correlation and Cluster Analysis of Body Measurement Trait and Body Weight of Xinyi Huaixiang Chicken

Abstract

The aims of this study was to investigate the relationships among the body type traits,including body weight and body size of 12 weeks old Xinyi Huaixiang chicken by correlation and cluster analysis. The results indicated that the correlations between body weight and body length,body diagonal length,shank length were significantly positive for the male,and the largest correlation coefficient was body length( r = 0. 996). The correlations were also significantly positive between body weight and body diagonal length,body length,shank length,chest deep for the female. But the largest correlation coefficient was shank length( r = 0. 990). It demonstrated that Huaixiang chicken breeding processes in body type had different reference of body size traits between the sexes. With cluster analysis,body type traits of those chickens were divided into four types in male and three types in female. The representative body traits of the male included body weight,body length,body diagonal length and chest width. The representative body traits of the female included body weight,body length and body diagonal length.
