Abstract

Optimum conditions of hydrolysis on chrome shavings with sodium hydroxide were investigated based on the extraction percentage of collagen hydrolysate. Some influence factors such as the amount of sodium hydroxide, hydrolytic time, hydrolytic temperature and pretreatment time were determined. The optimum conditions were as follows:pretreatment time 12 h,sodium hydroxide 8%,hydrolytic time 4 h,hydrolytic temperature 120 ℃.The extraction percentage of collagen hydrolysate can be increased to 88.98% under such conditions. The physical and chemical properties of collagen hydrolysate under different conditions were determined. The necessary conditions of isolation from chrome and collagen with high efficiency were also discussed.
