Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of Trazdone in the treatment of late-onset patients with depression. Methods 60 late-onset patients with depression were divided into two groups. They were assigned to receive Trazdone or Citalopram. All patients were observed for 6 weeks. The patients were assessed with Hamilton depressive scale(HAMD),clinical global impression(CGI)and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS).Results The efficacy of both drugs had no significant differences in the scores of hamilton depressive scale and clinical global impression(P0.05).Trazdone had less side effects than Citalopram. Conclusions Trazdone is a safe and effective drug for late-onset depressive with more rapid onset of action and less side effects than Citalopram.
