Abstract
Objective To investigate the association between smoking, serum amyloid A(SAA) and coronary heart disease(CHD).[Methods] The concentrations of plasma SAA,C-reactive protein(CRP) and interleukin-6(IL-6) are determined by ELISA.[Results] The concentrations of SAA and CRP increase in the order of control group, angina group and myocardial infarction are significantly different when compared with each other. The partial correlation coefficient of SAA and CRP is 0.793,and there is a significant positive correlation between them. Those between SAA or CRP and IL-6 are 0.157 and 0.314,respectively with weak positive correlation. There is an interaction on CHD between smoking and SAA. [Conclusion] SAA is a risk factor of CHD and there is an interaction on CHD between smoking and SAA:smoking can increase the risk of CHD in people with high level of plasma SAA.
