Abstract

Objective To raise the effectiveness of spiral CT scans in diagnosis of gallbladder carcinoma and to reduce its rate of misdiagnosis. Methods Clinical imaging and pathological data of 38 patients with gallbladder carcinoma were collected, and the features of CT images for primary gallbladder carcinoma were particularly studied. Results 31 of 38 cases were correctly diagnosed and 7 cases were misdiagnosed before surgical operation. According to CT findings, gallbladder carcinoma could be classified into 3 types: mass type, thick gallbladder wall type and intracystic nodular type. Enhanced CT scans demonstrated that gallbladder carcinoma was enhanced markedly with some homogeneous enhancement and some heterogeneous enhancement. Conclusion Spiral CT scans can clearly detect gallbladder carcinoma and its infringement and metastasis to nearby organs and tissues. The obvious enhancement effect is characteristic finding of gallbladder carcinoma in CT imaging. Spiral CT scans, especially enhancement scans can provide important diagnostic and therapeutic basis for clinicians.
