Abstract
Objective: To study the effects of the steroidal saponin (compound 9714) on thrombosis, platelet aggregation and hemorheology. Methods: Arteriovenous shunt thrombosis was used to measure thrombosis, turbidimetry was used to measure platelet aggregation, acute blood stasis model was used to measure hemorheology. Results: Compound 9714 10,20,40mg/kg ig markedly decreased both wet weight and dry weight of thrombus, inhibited platelet aggregation induced by ADP and collagen, reduced the whole blood viscosity and plasma viscosity, reduced erythrocyte aggregation and improved erythrocyte deformability in rats. Conclusion: Compound 9714 could obviously inhibit the formation of thrombus through inhibition of platelet aggregation and improvement of hemorheology in rats.
