Application Value of Cocktail P504s/P63 Immunohistochemistry in Prostate Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment

Objective: To evaluate the utility of cocktail P504s/P63 immunohistochemistry(IHC) staining in prostate cancer(Pca) diagnosis and its clinical prognostic significance.Methods: P504s/P63 expression of 93 prostatic specimens were analyzed from 33 cases of Pca,30 cases of prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia(PIN),and 30 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).The relationship between P504s/P63 expression and the three prognostic factors as patient's prostate specific antigen(PSA) levels,Gleason score and clinical stage was also explored.Results: Pca cases showed highly positive P504s expression and negative P63 expression;half cases of PIN had positive P504s expression;BPH cases showed non P504s expression,but positive P63 expression.Statistically significant difference has been found in the expression of both P504s and P63 between the three groups.The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity by P504s/P63 IHC staining in Pca were 96.97% and 100% respectively.Wilcox test showed positive correlation between the three prognostic factors and Pca P504s expression.Conclusion: P504s/P63 IHC staining is a highly sensitive and specific diagnosis tool.Pca P504s expression features might be helpful for the prognostic estimation and decision of adequate treatment.
