A survey on the rate and pattern of HBV infection among male drug users in detoxification institute in Changsha city

ObjectiveTo investigate the rate and pattern of HBV infection among male drug users. MethodsSpot investigation methods were being used, 452 male druggers were selected randomly from a Changsha detoxification institute.The HBV infection markers were detective by ELISA. ResultsHBsAg-bearing rate was 36.5%, and the total HBV infection rate was 88.3% among the male druggers. It is obviously higher than that of the common crowd.There was statistical difference about the HBV-bearing rate among different drugging time length. There were 22 types of The HBV infection patterns, 6 frequently types of which were HbsAb;HbsAg, HbsAb;HbsAb, HbeAb, HbcAb;HbsAb, HbeAb;HbsAb, HbeAb, HbcAb;HbsAg, HbeAg, HbcAb, and their proportion were 37.34, 12.53, 9.52, 7.02, 5.26 and 4.26, respectively. ConlusionDrug abusers are the population at high risk for hepatitis B infection.The prevention propagandas and the integrated prevention measure of epidemics should be strengthened so as to cut off the passage of transmission and control the transmission and popularity of Hepatitis B beard by these druggers'.
