Abstract
Objective To understand the infection rate of hepatitis B virus (HBV) among freshmen of college, and offer references for prevention and treatment of HBV. Method A total of 6 918 freshmen during 2001~2003 were examined with liver function and HBsAg. To those HBsAg-positive freshmen, HBsAg, HbsAb, HBeAg, HbeAb and HbcAb were detected by ELISA. Results The total positive rate of HBsAg was 6.67%(468/6 918), and the rate was higher for males than for females. The HBV infection patterns mostly included two tri-positive patterns (HBsAg+, HBeAg+, HbcAb+ and HBsAg+ HbeAb+ HbsAb+), and the rate of males and females were different. Sixty-seven had increased ALT in the examination, and there was difference between male and female. Conclusions In order to prevent and control the infection of HBV in universities, the examination of HBVM and ALT in freshmen should be intensified, and integrated measures of prevention and treatment should be taken.
