The Clinical Study of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy with Methylene Blue in Breast Cancer

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the feasibility of intraoperative sentinel lymph node biopsy(SLNB)in patients with breast cancer.Methods 52 patients with T1,T2 breast cancer were performed intraoperative sentinel lymph node biopsy using Methylene blue dye.All of the SLN and ALN were evaluated pathologically after the operations.Results Of 47 in 52 patients,SLN were successfully identified,with a detection rate of 90.38%(47/52).The accuracy of SLN biopsy in this study was 82.69%(43/52),sensitivity was 90.48%(19/21),false negative was 19.04%(4/21),false positive was 0.Conclusion Our study indicates that intraoperative lymphatic mapping using methylene blue and SLN can accurately predict the axillary lymph node status of the(T1,T2)cancer patients.
