Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of VEGF and MMP-7 at different levels of glioma and its clinical significance. Methods The expression of VEGF and MMP-7 in 78 cases of glioma and 10 cases of normal brain tissue was detected by using the immunohistochemistry PV-9000 two step method. Results The expression of VEGF and MMP-7 was negative in the normal brain tissue, and higher expression of VEGF and MMP-7 could be observed with the increasing level of glioma. There was a significant difference in the expression of VEGF and MMP-7 between glioma and normal brain tissue. Conclusion The accumulation of VEGF in cytoplasm can promote the MMP-7 expression, and VEGF and MMP-7 might be associated with the occurrence, development and malignance of glioma, showing the malignant degree, patholgical level and prognosis of glioma.
