Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the curative effects and safety of sertraline combined with small doses of quetiapine in the treatment of patients with refractory depression in the elderly.Methods:60 patients with refractory depression in the elderly were randomly divided into observation group(sertraline combined with quetiapine group) and control group(sertraline group),and each group has 30 patients.Observation group among which 27 cases completed the test actually was treated with quetiapine combined with sertraline and control group among which 26 cases completed the test actually was treated with sertraline alone for 6 weeks. The curative effects and safety of patients were measured with HAMD,HAMA and adverse drug reaction when admission, after second weekend and after sixth weekend. Results:The total effective rate of sertraline combined with quetiapine group was 62.96% and that of sertraline group was 26.92%.The differences in curative effects between the two groups were statistically significant(P0.05).The adverse drug reactions of the two groups were minor and there were not significantly statistical differences. Conclusion:The curative effects of sertraline combined with quetiapine in the treatment of patients with refractory depression in the elderly are apparently suoerior to that of sertraline alone, and the safty is better.
