Felodipine and captopril combination for treating hypertension in aged patients:A report of 64 cases

Objective To observe the efficacy of felodipine and captopril combination for treating hypertension in aged patients.Methods 128 patients were randomly divided into group 1(64 cases treated with felodipine and captopril) and group 2(64 cases treated with captopril only),their efficacy on blood pressure,heart rate,blood lipid,blood glucose and renal function were observed and compared between two groups.Results Total effective rate(93%) of anti hypertension in group 1 was significantly higher than that(70%) in group 2;Blood pressure,blood lipid,blood glucose and renal function in two groups had no significant difference before and after treatment.Conclusion Felodipine and captopril combination have better effect in reducing blood pressure without changes of heart rate,blood lipid,blood glucose and renal function,which are better drugs in treating hypertension in aged patients.
