The expression levels and significance of OPN and CD44v6 in colorectal cancer and colorectal adenoma

Objective To study the expression levels and significance of OPN and CD44v6 in colorectal cancer and colorectal adenoma. Methods 72 cases of colorectal cancer specimens, 60 cases of colorectal adenoma specimens of OPN and CD44v6 expression were detected by im-munohistochemical staining. The relationship between the clinical and pathological features of colorectal cancer was analyzed. Results OPN positive rates in colorectal cancer, adenoma, normal tissue expression were respectively 81.9%, 66.7%, 2.8%. The CD44v6 positive rates were 75.0%, 56. 7%, 2.8%. OPN and CD44v6 expression rate were different significantly among three groups(P0.05). OPN expression was correlated with tumor depth of invasion, differentiation and lymph node metastasis(P0.05). CD44v6 expression was correlated to the depth of tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis(P0.05). OPN and CD44v6 was significantly positively correlated(r= 0.517, P0.05). Conclusion OPN, CD44v6 expression may play important roles in colorectal adenoma- carcinoma cell transformation and invasiveness of colorectal cancer. The detection of the two index can pro-vide an important basis for the prevention, diagnosis and prognosis evaluation for colorectal cancer.
