Expression and Significance of CD44v6 and CD44(H) Gene Proteins in Colorectal Tumor

Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between the expression of CD44v6 and CD44(H) and the biologic behavier in colorectal carcinoma. Methods The expression of CD44v6 and CD44(H) in 73 cases of colorectal carcinoma and 44 cases of colorectal adenoma were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The percentage of positive expression of CD44v6 and CD44(H): colorectal carcinomacolorectal adenomanormal colorectal mucosa (P0.001). The expression of CD44v6 was correlated with tumor infiltration according to Dukes' histological stage (P0.05). In 28 cases with lymph node metastasis, the positive expression of CD44v6 was 24 cases (86%). In 45 cases without lymph node metastasis, the positive expression of CD44v6 was 27 cases. In comparison with each other, P0.05. Conclusion CD44v6 and CD44(H) are related to the genesis and development of colorectal carcinoma. Especially, there is a positive correlation between the expression of CD44v6 and invasion and metastasis in colorectal carcinoma. CD44v6 may become a marker to judge the prognosis of colorectal carcinoma.
