Abstract

The definition of originates from the West and can be summarized in one sentence: Man replaces God. Modernity of the Western culture and art exerts decisive influence on modern and contemporary China. However, modernity of the Western art has two limitations born with it. Chinese oil-painting has actually shown certain Chinese characteristics, but it seems that to consciously discuss and consent such Chinese characteristics has not been adequate.
