Abstract
Objective To compare the therapeutic effects of candesartan and benazepril in the essential hypertension. Methods Ninty six patients were treated with eandesartan(8~16mg/d) while eighty four patients were treated with henazepril(10~20mg/d) for eight weeks.Blood pressure was monitored and blood lipid, renal function and blood cholesterin and plasma renin activity(PRA)were exam- ined before and after the treatment. Results Blood pressure showed no difference between the two groups.Candesartan had no effect on TG and TC but it decreased the level of urine acid. The incidence of cough was lower in candesartan group. Conclusion Candesartan is effective and safe treatment for hypertension, which can decrease the level of urine acid in blood and has lower incidence of cough.
