Acanthopanax senticosus vs Salvia miltiorrhiza injection in treating unstable angina

AIM: To compare the efficacy of injections of Acanthopanax senticosus and Salvia mitiorrhiza in treating unstable angina. METHODS: Seventy eight patients with unstable angina were randomly divided into 2 groups. Thirty eight patients (M 21, F 17; age 60 a± s 10 a) received injection of Acanthopanax senticosus 60 mL in 5% glucose injection 250 mL, iv drip, qd for 10 d. The other 40 patients as control group (M 24, F 16; age 59 a±8 a) received injection of Salvia miltiorrhiza compound 20 mL in 5% glucose injection 250 mL, iv drip, qd for 10 d. RESULTS: The total clinical effective rate for 2 groups were 97%, 85%, respectively. Significant difference ( P 0.05) was found between the Acanthopanax senticosus group and the salvia miltiorrhiza group. Total effective rate of electrocardiology for 2 groups were 89%, 60%, respectively, in the Acanthopanax senticosus group are showed that better than the Salvia miltiorrhiza group ( P 0.01). CONCLUSION: Injection of Acathopanax senticosus is superior to Salvia miltiorrhiza in treating unstable angina pectoris.
