Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the application of non-invasive ventilation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) combined with typeⅡ respiratory failure.Methods:46 cases of COPD combined with typeⅡ respiratory failure were randomly divided into two groups:control group(n=23) with routine medication and experiment group(n=23) with non-invasive ventilation based on routine medication. Results:The common condition and index of blood oxygen between two groups had no difference before treatment(P0.05).The values of respiratory rate, heart rate,pH of arterial blood,PaO2 and PaCO2 in experiment group significantly improved after treatment(P0.05).Compared with controls,The value of PaO2 increased(P0.01) and that of PaCO2 decreased(P0.01)in experiment group after treatment. After 24 hours treatment, the dyspnea improved in both group(P0.05).The average length of stay was respectively 11±4 days and 17±6 days(P0.01).Conclusion:Non-invasive ventilation is effective in treatment of acute aggravated COPD combined with typeⅡ respiratory failure.
