Abstract
Objective: To observe the efficacy of different time administration of Tropisetron to prevent postoperation nausea and vomiting(PONV) caused by patient-controlled intravenous analgesia(PCIA) in gynecological patient. Methods: 90 patients who would undergo PCIA after gynecological operation with epidural anesthesia were divided into 3 groups: 30 cases each.Patients in group A were administered tropisetron before operation;patients in group B were administered tropisetron into PCIA;and patients in group C were administered droperidol into PCIA.Nausea and vomiting occurrences of every individual after 24 hours of the operation were observed and recorded. Results: The incidence of PONV was significantly lower in group A and B than that in group C(P0.05).The incidence of PONV in group A was statistically similar to that in group B(P0.05).Conclusion: Tropisetron given either before or after operation can effectively reduce the incidence of PONV in gynecological patient. The efficacy of tropisetron is better than that of droperidol.
