Abstract
The preliminary design of a multistage axial flow compressor using one\|dimensional flow theory is studied. The characteristic relation of an axial flow compressor stage is obtained. The model for the optimum design of a multistage axial flow compressor for the fixed distribution of axial velocity is presented. The analytical relations are obtained. The results are universal and can provide some guides for the optimum design of multistage compressor.
